I met Vadim at Bernard`s and immediately identified something extraordinary in his painting – painting like a gleaming jewel, crystal clear and extremely religious; neither particularly Jewish nor Christian, yet shot through Messianism and Monasticism; Painting which gives a feeling of perfection; so complete and so perfect that it is impossible to relate it to the painting of today which arouses wonder, doubt, and irritation. Vadim`s paintings embody Pravoslavic icon art, but then again not extreme Christian implications; Northern Flemish surrealism permeates them. This blend of icon art and Northern surrealism is enchanting; its beauty is far above average and cannot be resisted. I, for my part, could not resist it.
